Week 1 Update Report


Progress on Version 2 has been steady so far. I've mainly been working on the game's battle system and general fixes to the game's events to be easier for me  to edit and replace while in development. 

What's been done:

  • Enemy Sprites
  • Battle Backgrounds
  • Configured and tested enemy and actor states and skill list. 
  • Game Balancing for Levels
  • Additional overworld sprite for Glacier Blanc.
  • Fixed Title Screen to include Title name and signature.
  • Converted some event "code" to common events: 
    •  Chests, Random Encounters, Bear Traps and Camera. 

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed actor movement in the Old Party cutscene. 
  • Fixed Raining event in Level 3.

While testing out the battle backgrounds, I was troubled to find that my solution for the boss battle, that being just an image that’s manipulated by the in-game events by treating them as a battle background unfortunately didn’t work. I had to whip up some smaller sprites for the party and I’m not particularly happy with the layout basic RPGMAKER imposes. 

I was also having trouble with the battle screen hud. I wanted the layout to be similar to Fear & Hunger where there are no pictures and the skills aren’t too cramped to the side. I even tested using a transparent choice for the actors’ faces and it still used the actors’ faces I made.  I've been searching for plugins but I haven't found much. I want to have this figured out by polish day, 

but for now, the game is in a better state from version 1.
